Donald Duck’s Car

Donald duck’s grandfather had given Donald his old car.
“I shall buy a new, modern one,” said Grandfather. “I’ve had this one since I first began to drive , and now I want a change.”
Donald was thrilled! The very old car was just what he wanted! You see, a special event was to take place that month.  It was called the Veteran Car Rally.
“Lots of very old cars are going to be driven from Burbank to San Diego,” Donald told Daisy Duck. “If I manage to drive this old car all the way to San Diego, lots of folks will be waiting there to cheer me.”
“In that case,” said Daisy, “the car must look shiny and clean.  We’ll work on it now, and ask our friends to help.”
If wasn’t long before Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Pluto and Goofy were all working on the car with Donald and Daisy.  Minnie polish mirrors, and Daisy cleaned washed the body car and mudguards.  Pluto fetched buckets of clean water the car was dry, Goofy did the polishing.
On the morning of the Car Rally Donald set off, feeling proud of his clean, shiny old car. He was upset  when it began to rain, for he knew that the polish would be washed away, leaving the paintwork dull.  At last the rain stopped, but then old car, also in the rally, went speeding by Donald, and splattered his car with mud.  Donald didn’t worry about it too much as he was only thinking about reaching San Diego before the rally finished.  When, finally, he did reach San Diego, lots of folks were there to cheer him.  Among them were Minnie, Mickey, Daisy, Pluto and Goofy.  They had all come to San Diego earlier  that day on the bus, so as to see the cars arriving.  Hey had enjoyed themselves- until the moment when they saw Donald’s muddy splattered car.
“All our hard work for  nothing! Sighed Daisy.  “Why did we bother to make it look nice?”
Donald’s friends, however, didn’t have time to be sad for long, for Donald invited them all to  a special dance held that evening in a big hotel.  It was a dance for all the rivers who had managed to reach San Diego  in their old cars.  It was very grand affair.
“I’m glad we cleaned your car after all,” Daisy told Donald, “for if we hadn’t been kind to you, we might not have been here to enjoy this splendid evening !’
