Pooh Honey Jars

Winnie The Pooh looked at himself in the mirror.  “Christopher Robin is right !” he sighed.  “ I ought to lose some weight.  I like being a fat bear, but not very fat! Dieting is hard for me, because I love my food- especially lovely honey.  Christopher Robin says I mustn’t have any honey for week, but I couldn’t bear that! However, instead of eating large jars of honey, I shall eat small once”.
Pooh bought himself some small jars of honey.  The small jars were made of glass-not like his big stone jars. Every day he finished up several of them, and as he still felt hungry he had several more! Silly Bear! Because he ate twice a many small jars, he was eating just as much honey as if he had large jars ! But the felt proud himself, and as he was looking in the mirror one day, to see if he looked slimmer, there was a knock at his door.  Outside stood Piglet, Tiger, Eeyore, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga and Roo- who were on their way to Christopher Robin’s birthday party.  Pooh had been invited, too, so he joined the others  when they all arrived at the party, Christopher Robin said sadly:
“There has been a power cut! The storm last night brought down the cables that bring electricity to our house, so we cannot switch on the electric light.  It will be dark soon, and how can we have a party in the dark?”
“ I have some night-lights,” said Christopher Robin’s Nanny.
Nanny kept some little candles, called night-lights, and she lit one each night for Christopher Robin to have in his room.  He had a special holder to put his night-light in.
“But we’ve only holder,” said Christopher Robin.  “It wouldn’t be safe to use night-lights without holders.”
Then Pooh remembered his little honey jars.  They were just the size for night-light, and there were lots of empty, clean one at home.  Pooh hurried to fetch his jars; and Nanny put a night-light in each one.  She arranged the jars around the room and li the night-lights.  As it grew darker outsides, the room seemed to grow brighter and cozier.  Christopher and his guests enjoyed their candle-lit party.
“If my jars are going to be as useful as this, “thought Pooh, “I’d better eat lots more honey, in case anyone else wants to borroe same jars.”
What a lovely excuse for him to eat more honey!
